Hannah's First Crazy Hair Day

Hannah got to participate in her first "Crazy Hair Day" at school this year. She is in kindergarten this year. She really enjoys going to school and learning lots of new things. (The band-aid on her head is covering a mere flesh wound. She whacked her head on the corner of a little table in the living room and split her forehead. BUMMER!)

Connor Turned 12

On October 27, 1997 my first baby boy, Connor, was born. I always say he came out with a smile on his face. He was an angel baby. He has added a lot of joy to our family these past 12 years. I am proud of the person he is and look forward to watching him continue to grow. Connor currently is learning the trumpet and has started teaching himself the piano. He sits down several times a day to play. I hear improvement every time he plays. He is a loving brother to his younger siblings and is working on being a loving brother to his big sister. :)

We went to Disneyland to celebrate Connor's birthday.

Autumn Leaves Wedding Cake

I delivered this cake yesterday. The top and bottom layers were spice cake with a cream cheese filling and the middle layer was white cake with raspberry filling. I made the leaves and acorns out of fondant.

Another Milestone!

Matthew can now clap his hands! He clapped his hands a couple of days ago but only one time. Last night, though, he was all gung ho with his new clapping ability. All we have to do is cheer and say, "Yay!" and he starts clapping. So fun!

FedEx Wedding Cake

This past Saturday I made a wedding cake for a couple who met while working at FedEx. The colors of their wedding were purple and orange. The reception looked pretty and the colors came together nicely. What didn't come together so nicely, unfortunately, was their cake. Oh, I delivered it to them looking beautiful. It arrived about an hour earlier than the deadline. Callie came with me for the delivery. When we got there we couldn't find any people there. It was obvious that we were in the right place, so we brought the cake in, set it up on the table that they had made ready for it. They even had the cake topper sitting there that the florist had prepared. We got it set up looking very simple and pretty. As we went to leave I heard someone in the kitchen so I popped my head in to find a lady in there working on food. I told her we had just delivered the cake and she said ok. I could never have predicted what happened to the cake after the delivery but before the bride and groom got to even look at it...

Apparently, at some point after I dropped it off but before anyone else arrived, the groom's grandmother decided that the cake "needed" more flowers. She used the flowers that were leftover from decorating. (I had seen that bucket of flowers as I was taking care of the cake. I had no idea that they would be used for evil.) The first two pictures are shots of the cake that I took. This is how the cake looked as I walked out the door. The final picture is of the cake post-grandma. My friend's sister took the picture and sent it to her. She forwarded it on to me.

I got a great laugh today

I was browsing a catalog that came in the mail for Sur la Table kitchen store and came across these beauties. I busted out laughing. Luckily I was on the phone with my sister, Cathy, at the time and was able to share the humor with someone. We imagined wearing these as our guests arrived early and we were still chopping onions. They walk into the kitchen to greet us as we slowly turn around to reveal our... ONION GOGGLES!!!

In case you are curious, here is the catalog description for this wonderful addition to anyone's kitchen.

"Don’t shed another tear over a chopped onion. Sturdy plastic goggles feature comfortable foam seal that protects eyes from onion vapors; with anti-fog lenses for maximum clarity. One size fits most. Will not fit over glasses."
